Be Prepared for Your Cruise; Preparing for your cruise goes beyond packing your swim trunks and suntan lotion. Preparation should begin as soon as you book the cruise. This is particularly true if your cruise will be taking you into international or to foreign ports. For cruises that take you between countries, you will want to have your identification in order as soon as possible. Passports can take some time to obtain, so be sure to apply for your passport early. You will likely be required to show your passport before boarding the ship. The more time you can give the passport office to process your application the better. Read the application thoroughly and ensure that you understand all the sections on the form and fill them out properly the first time to avoid delays. In addition to your passport and other standard forms of identification, like your driver’s license, you should make sure that you have your health insurance cards with you. If you are not already covered for travel insurance you should make sure that you take out an insurance plan that will give you strong coverage throughout the duration of your cruise and in each country that you will be visiting.
